Using basic shapes and the face mapping method, described by artist and author, Pam Carriker, students will build an accurate sketch of the human head/face. The inclusion of shading will help to create the illusion of three-dimensional forms. This course is designed for students with previous drawing experience. All supplies are included. Some of the projects may include mixed media techniques, such as combining watercolor, crayon and paper collage, while others will focus on just one media, such as acrylic painting. The projects are inspired by a wide range of artists such as Claude Monet, Gustave Klimt, and Paul Klee. These assignments can be used as jumping off points for your own inspiration, using your own photos, book illustrations, or magazine photos to create your own composition. Or you can use the art demonstrations as a guide to help you feel more comfortable with the specific media. This is a class for those who want to study a variety of subjects, such as landscapes, and still life. This course is a skills-based course meant for beginners and those with some skills.
