Learn how to type at a rate of 15-25 words per minute without making a lot of mistakes. Use Microsoft Office Word to become skilled at basic word processing, formatting, correcting errors, and proofreading your work. Practice cutting and pasting, changing fonts, underlining, using italics, and bolding. This interactive class will keep your fingers flying across your keyboard. KOC642 How to Build a PC AGES 10-13 Building your own PC can be a cost effective and rewarding experience for anybody. In this hands-on class, students will disassemble and reassemble recycled PCs. Learn to repair and troubleshoot issues as they build a PC from the ground up. Program installation is the next step and then it’s onto use the PC for gaming and other tasks. Computer components and tools will be provided, but students do not bring home a PC. KOC714 Coding with Scratch: Video Game Design AGES 8-11 Learn basic video game coding concepts by making different types of games, including racing, platform, and launching. Create a two-player racing game in which you control movement with the keyboard or create a game where you guide a sprite through a maze. It’s all fun ... and games! KOC738 Minecraft: Coding AGES 6-9 & 10-14 Learn some basic coding as you get a virtual robot to do the digging in Minecraft! Take on challenges with your friends and learn about conditionals, functions, and coordinates in your own Minecraft world. KOC739 Minecraft: Collaborate AGES 8-11 & 10-13 Building in Minecraft is more fun when you are sitting right next to a kid who’s also in your virtual world. Work together with your friends to learn important social and collaborative skills as you build a real and virtual community. KOC767 Minecraft: Survival & Civilization AGES 6-9 & 8-11 Collect and assemble resources, build shelters, and gather food and provisions, as you create and develop a society that grows individual hovels to whole cities. Share resources with your friends to build a civilization that can withstand the challenges presented to the class. KOC224 LEGO® Mindstorm Robotic Creations AGES 8-11 Join us as we set out for a week of exploring and building robots. Students will work in pairs to use LEGO® Mindstorms Robotics. Build a robot that will follow your commands. Using a computer and an infrared transmitter, students will program their robots to meet various challenges we put in place. Have you ever thought about designing your own? Get a chance to create a game like the pros. Learn how to design fun and efficient game levels as well as techniques for properly pacing a story line for a game. If playing games is not enough for you, then video game design just may be your calling! KOC597 WeDo Robotics and Coding AGES 6-9 LEGOs® + Robots + Computers = Education, the LEGOWay! Build LEGO® models featuring working motors and sensors and learn simple programming techniques to make models perform simple tasks. Your imagination comes to life in this unique combination of the LEGO bricks and computer software. KOC736 Cube Solvers AGES 10-13 Develop computational thinking skills while learning to solve a 3x3 speed Cube. Learning the algorithms required to solve the cube teaches your brain and your hands to be as efficient as possible. It also builds your confidence. And if you are really curious, you can try to build your own cube, or explore how to program a robot to assist you in your successful solving. Students will receive a speed cube as part of this class. KOC743 LEGO® SPIKE AGES 8-11, 10-13 & 12-15 Learn to problem solve through complex challenges with your own ideas and intuitive coding as you create with LEGO® Education SPIKE kits. Whether you already know about coding with LEGO® kits or this is your first try, it’s going to be fun. Work collaboratively through a variety of experiences that help build confidence and STEM knowledge. KOC749 LEGO® SPIKE: Cube Solvers AGES 12-15 Wouldn’t it be great if solving a puzzle cube was effortless? In this class, you can make a robot to do it for you.
