That and of course the absence of my sister, who as an adult now isn’t required to make these forced visits. I feel a little guilty for resenting her a little bit for not being here. I understand that she can’t help it with how busy she is, but this would sure be a lot easier if she were here. Being eight years older than me, a lot of times she would act as my other parent much more so than my father. “How’s school been treating you?” My father asks in a poor attempt to make small talk. “Fine,” I respond.
