hands-on activities, we will practice the writing process to help you fully

develop imaginative characters, settings, and plots. Create poetry, short

stories, novellas or journals. Use your ideas as building blocks for fiction,

nonfiction, poetry and more ... then combine your work with exciting

design elements, interpreting your written words into a total visualiza-

tion of a personalized journal or book. Let your imagination be your

guide, as the possibilities are endless!

Harry Potter and Friends

School? Magic? Fun! Spend a week at Hogwarts! In this week-long

session, you’ll share your favorite parts of all seven novels, and each day

you’ll attend different classes. No, don’t worry, we’re not talking about

traditional classes - we’re talking about Potions, Herbology, Charms,

Defense Against the Dark Arts and more. There will be lots of hands-on

activities and crafts (some of them edible), and lots of time to share your

enthusiasm for Harry and his friends with your classmates.

This class is for the “Sirius” Harry Potter series book-loving fans. We will

cover all 7 books of the HP series; discussing the ins and outs of the char-

acters: their lives, their hopes & dreams, and their wild conflicts. Expect

to do some of your favorite things - be sorted into Houses, create some

delicious and disgusting snacks, play quidditch (or something like that ...)

and some serious HP trivia games, and cast a spell or two. This class is for

readers ... if you’ve read all the books and wish there were more ... this

one’s for you!

Chinese calligraphy. Perfect for the artistic student, this class will focus

on this ancient art form that utilizes brushes and ink, while also explor-

ing a bit of the history and culture of China. Learn and practice brush

and ink strokes used to create Chinese characters as well as how to care

for these calligraphy tools, which are yours to take home at the end of

the week.

Magic! In this fast paced class you’ll make your own magic. Dive into

writing through the lens of young adult fiction - and look at popular

series like Harry Potter, Narnia, Percy Jackson and Pendragon. Then,

using examples from the stories, you’ll create crafts from the worlds of

the novels and a special writing journal to imagine fantastic original

stories that challenge your imagination. Students should have basic

keyboarding knowledge.
