Title IX Sexual Misconduct
Training, Education, and Prevention
Frederick Community College (FCC) has a responsibility to establish and
maintain a learning and working environment that is free from sexual
misconduct and that respects and protects the dignity and value of every
member of the College community.
Title IX sexual misconduct is a form of sexual discrimination prohibited by
federal and state discrimination laws, including Title IX of the Education
Amendments of 1972, and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, and is strictly
prohibited by FCC. Sexual misconduct is a broad term used to define acts
of sexual assault; sexual exploitation; sexual harassment; intimidation;
stalking; dating, domestic, or intimate partner violence; or retaliation.

FCC is committed to educating the College community regarding the
prevention and elimination of sexual misconduct. Creating an environment
free from sexual misconduct is the responsibility of all members of the
College community. The College is committed to fostering a College
climate free from sexual misconduct through training, education, and
prevention programs, and through policies and procedures that encourage
prompt reporting, prohibit retaliation, and promote timely, fair, and
impartial investigation and resolution of sexual misconduct cases.
To ensure that students understand their rights and responsibilities under
Title IX, the College provides awareness, knowledge, and skill-building
workshops and events organized by the Center for Student Engagement.
Specific education about alcohol and drug abuse, sexual assault, and
dating violence is provided. These events are offered in a variety of formats
throughout the year and are posted on the Co-Curricular Calendar.
