Content will be presented as a hybrid mix of short lecture, live demonstration, and hands on practice for those wanting to work fluently in Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, and Manual Modes. Students will eventually need to acquire a commercial file management/editing application such as ACDSee Photo Studio, Corel AfterShot Pro, Skylulm Luminar, or Adobe Lightroom. Having the skills and knowledge offered in this class will equip students towards taking technically and aesthetically solid family photographs. Some of the topics covered include camera settings, lens choices, focus modes, posing, and tricks to overcoming difficult situations. Whether you are an aspiring professional or a hobbyist simply wanting to take better photographs of your own family and friends, this class will offer a starting point to make that a reality. Still, many of your photos do not measure up to your expectations. What’s the problem and how can you fix it? Often, the problem is that we do not photograph under ideal conditions, and the images suffer. The lighting may have been flat and the image lacks contrast. Something in the foreground needs to be removed. The horizon is tilted or cuts the picture in half. Oops, the picture is too dark. All of these problems and many more can be fixed with simple editing. This course will show you how it’s done. Note: Course will meet on campus in an in-person environment. Topics such as using the histogram and a gray card are also covered with a brief Lightroom Demo showing how to use the gray card to correct white balance. Content is taught through both a lecture and hands-on practice approach. Comprehensive notes are distributed to set students up for continued success at home.
