Afterwards students will get a chance to sample six different styles of gins from throughout history and the world. Students will also learn about the different botanicals and herbs that are used to make gin and finally, will be able to make their own custom gin blend of botanicals to take home and make their own compound gin. The most famous and most copied wine of Portugal is Port; but with more than 250 varieties indigenous grapes, the country offers a wide variety of wines and has more native grapes per square mile than any other country in the world. Portugal is one of the top ten producers of wine in the world; and in the last ten years, their wine exports have grown an average of 3.3% in value. While global warming has caused problems for harvests around the world, Portugal’s last two harvests increased as much as 14% in production.
