Juggling, plate spinning, and stilt walking are just a few of the circus techniques you will learn in this very hands-on, full-day, week-long experience. Mark Lohr, head Theatricks coach, has been involved in circus performance and education for nearly 30 years and has toured the U.S. with the George Carden International Circus. In addition to his vast experience, he brings along his teenage and adult children who have grown up in the program and now teach and perform together in the family show, Laugh Out Lohr (LOL)! The week will wrap up with a culminating performance where students show off their hard work, new skills and hilarity to friends and family. KOC673 Drama Daze AGES 10-14 & 12-15 Through games and activities, learn theatrical skills, create characters, and build scenes. Using those newly honed talents, direct your own scenes, improve your acting skills, and focus on projection, body language, eye contact, and improvisation. Build your confidence and enjoy creative freedom. Break a leg! KOC684 STOMP! ... Your Way to Fun! AGES 6-9 & 10-13 What kind of music can you make from things in your environment? Combine common items and unique objects to build your own percussion instruments and use those creations to make awesome music! Through music, movement and energizing beats, you’ll turn a rehearsal room into an inventive rhythm experience. This is an awesome class for the music enthusiast who isn’t looking for a typical musical experience. Earplugs NOT included, but fun is! KOC745 Kids Take Over the Kitchen: Cookie Craze AGES 6-9 & 8-11 It’s a great time to delight your family with delicious array of drop, rolled, sandwich, bar, slice and bake, and no bake cookies. Learn basic baking techniques as you explore many possible ways to make a cookie. Oh my GOOD-ness! KOC746 Advanced Clay for Teens AGES 12-15 With the focus on hand building, learn the ancient techniques of slab, coil, and pinch pot methods to create one-of-a-kind functional and decorative clay pieces. Research the historical significance of the art you are learning about. Combine your imagination with the tools and materials provided to build three-dimensional projects like bowls, vases, sculpture creatures, and Ugly Face jugs. Students will be encouraged to work at their own pace. Items will be fired and ready for pick-up approximately four weeks after the end of the class, based on the college ceramic studio kiln availability. Note: Please be aware this is a two-week class. KOC755 The Ukulele: Tiny Instrument, Great Big Fun AGES 8-13 & 10-15 Learning to play this popular instrument is easy and fun. Get to know the ukulele, master a few chords, put them altogether, and entertain your family and friends. Ukuleles will be provided for class time but students are welcome to bring their own. KOC776 Summer Band Camp for Middle School AGES 11-15 Are you looking for a good way to keep up your musical skills this summer? Do you want to play with other middle school musicians in a fun and welcoming atmosphere? In this program you will have an opportunity to perform a variety of repertoire to improve your skills and musicianship. A final performance on stage will occur on the last day of camp. Percussion instruments will be provided (please bring sticks); all other instruments must be brought by the student. Open to all traditional concert band instruments. Note: Remember your instruments! KOC777 Black Light Illumination Theatre AGES 10-15 Explore the many facets of black lights as they create a magical world in which light, art, and rhythm are synchronized with movement and sound. Discover the enchanting world of Black Light Illumination Theatre when music, storytelling, and theatrical imagery are combined with neon and UV reactive materials and media, like paint, props, and costume pieces, to produce a delightful and colorful story to share at the end of the week.
