Emergency Management Track II:
Residency Program
A.A.S. Degree (Career)
Provides students with a broad education in emergency management. Focuses
on preparedness and the skills needed to organize and lead emergency
management operations. Track II allows regional students to earn their degree in a
hybrid format through a combination of online and on-campus courses. Students
should consult with the Program Manager before enrolling.
• Students must complete their credit
English and Mathematics
within the first
24 credits.
• One course must meet the
cultural competence graduation requirement.
• CORE: The General Education CORE
is that foundation of the higher education
curriculum providing a coherent intellectual experience for all students. Students
should check with an advisor or the transfer institution (ARTSYS) before selecting
General Education CORE requirements.
http://artsys.usmd.edu/• In some General Education categories (Mathematics, Biological & Physical
Sciences), a 4-credit course selected from the GenEd course list will satisfy the
requirement in place of a 3-credit course. Students should check with an advisor
before selecting these courses.
• For the PE/Health & Nutrition requirement, a 3-credit Physical Education or Health
course may satisfy the requirement in place of a 1-credit course. Students should
check with an advisor before selecting this course.
• Students must earn a grade of "C" or better in ENGL 101.

Emergency Management
Certificate (Career)
Provides students with a broad education in emergency management. Focuses
on preparedness and the skills needed to organize and lead emergency
management operations.
After completing the required FEMA IS prerequisites, students enroll in courses
EMGT 115, EMGT 125, EMGT 135, EMGT 215, EMGT 225, and EMGT 235. These are
FCC online courses offered during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.
The process to transfer FEMA IS prerequisites to FCC takes place in three (3)
environments.
1. FEMA website: Take FEMA IS courses online at
https://training.fema.gov/is/crslist.aspx2. EMI/Jacobs: Transfer FEMA IS courses to FCC college credit at
www.emstudy.com3. Frederick Community College (FCC): Where final FEMA college credit resides
and where EMGT courses are completed.
Students must earn a grade of 'C' or better in the following courses: EMGT
115, EMGT 125, EMGT 135, EMGT 215, EMGT 225, and EMGT 235
