Desired Outcomes
1. Increase access to professional development and training for faculty through alternative modes of professional development
2. Increase full-time and adjunct faculty participation in professional development and training across disciplines
3. Expand and strengthen faculty proficiency in using the LMS, instructional technologies, instructional design, universal design, and
assessment outcomes to enhance student learning and success
4. Increase adoption of LMS use, high impact practices, instructional innovation, and open educational resources (OER) in support of student
success, reduction of the achievement gap, and increased affordability
5. Build the leadership capacity of AACEWD full-time faculty and staff in the areas of academic management, adjunct faculty support, culturally
responsive practices/teaching, instructional design, online/hybrid teaching and quality assurance, and peer support/observations (through
programs such as FLAM Summer Institute, FLAM Sessions, CTL Faculty Scholars, DEI Programming, QM Certifications)
6. Enhance the systems for developing, evaluating, recognizing, and retaining full-time and adjunct faculty and staff at various career stages

FY20 Expand alternative modes of delivery of training and professional development for new full-time and credit adjunct faculty
Enact year two of “The Adjunct Faculty Experience” project
Collaborate with IT and HR to provide workplace-related training and professional development for AACEWD staff (through EDAT)
Identify instructional design, technologies, and innovation training priorities within and across disciplines
Conduct a faculty professional development and training needs survey
Clarify training/professional development expectations and priorities for AACEWD faculty and staff (aligned with DEI, IT, HR plans)
FY20 – 21 Establish a faculty professional development committee charged with creating a three-year faculty professional development plan
Expand and enhance Blackboard training and instructional design professional development that aligns with course-related
instructional technology expectations (e.g., use of Blackboard Grade Center)
Implement faculty leadership and academic management (FLAM) summer institutes and professional development programming
Expand programming for online Quality Matter reviewers and peer observation/support programming
Develop and implement a progressive master teacher series for first-time and seasoned faculty
Implement targeted training in the use of discipline-specific and specialized software and technologies (e.g., MATLAB)
Offer targeted training focused on interpretation of course level assessment for course and curriculum improvement
FY21 Assess strengths and gaps in faculty participation in training and professional development across AACEWD
