Terrific for adults of all fitness levels and abilities, Tai Chi
Ch’uan has been practiced for fitness and health for hundreds of
years. The slow, graceful movements and fluid natural postures
can help improve balance, coordination, muscle tone, posture,
breathing, and concentration.
Instructor:
Toni Minkel has been teaching Tai Chi and fitness
methods to seniors and others since 2000.

Global Learning Offering

Expand your horizons by exploring other cultures through
their films and food. Each session will open with a cultural
overview, including a film screening, and end with a discussion
of the film paired with a snack from that culture. A fun
opportunity to see, taste, and discuss something new.
Instructor:
Christine Rai is an assistant professor of English
at FCC with a passion for food studies and experiential learning.
An FCC alum, Professor Rai earned a Bachelor’s from Towson
University and her Master’s from Loyola College. As an educator
she is known for incorporating active learning including field trips,
service learning, and cultural cooking demonstrations. Inspired
by her love of travel, she designed a global scholar course and led
an FCC group abroad to France in May 2016. She writes about

ILR707 Developing a Personal Strength
Training Plan
6 sessions, 12 hours
Improve your balance, increase your strength, and become
more flexible. Learn from a licensed physical therapist and
certified personal trainer to safely and effectively use the Swiss
Ball, dumbbells, and Theraband. Dr. Zehnacker’s instruction
includes the rationale to lessen the effects of postural change
that often accompanies the aging process. All students must
have mobility to move between standing and floor positions
without assistance. Course is limited to 10 students.

components of this human dimension. We’ll cover self-
centeredness including its meaning and importance to healing.
Learn skills for centering like guided imagery, music, and other
creative techniques to enhance relaxation. We’ll also cover fear-
based and love-based belief systems. And finally the important
components of spiritual health.
Instructors:
Roger G. Swartz is the author of Accelerated
Learning: How You Learn Determines What You Learn and
co-author of Your Dollar$, Your Health: Healing Strategies and
Skills. Roger’s healthcare sponsors have included the American

Louise E. Lynch is a former member of the Maryland

of Directors, and the American Music Therapy Association. She
has 30+ years of experience with various populations using
creative arts (especially music) in changing behavior to assist in
self-discovery.
