Strategic Priority 6:  Expand Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) and Apprenticeship offerings, and assess their use and impact on student success


 Desired Outcomes
 1.  Expand PLA toolkit (portfolio evaluation and other innovative PLA systems).

 2.  Increase the number of students who receive PLA credits by 10% yearly.
 3.  Develop articulation agreements with a focus on PLA.
 4.  Develop outcome measures to track PLA progress on goals.

 5.  Develop a robust PLA marketing campaign to create awareness and integration.

 6.  Improve PLA policies, advising, and best practices.

 FY 20-21   Create student-centered and faculty-driven practices focused on student advising, pre-screening, achievement, and credit
    transferability.

    Assess research trends in PLA, as well as the impact of the PLA program on student retention and completion.
    Strengthen PLA framework by providing an essential foundation for creating awareness and building consensus across all

 campus-levels.
    Develop policies that support PLA, ensure practices align with policies, and adequate allocations of resources are available to
 support PLA program.
    Develop more academic awareness and integration through consistent cross-institutional discussions about PLA, educating

 the college community about what PLA is, how it meets the needs of students while recognizing college-level learning, and
 how it can be administered with rigor and academic integrity, fostering  greater acceptance of it among all stakeholders.
    Implement a PLA communication plan that informs the college community, employers, workforce, and industry partners of
 policies, practices, and resources by establishing a PLA newsletter that highlights program activities and success, regular

 faculty discussions
 FY 22-23   Develop PLA workshops and informational sessions that guide students and workforce advocacy and preparation.

    Establish connections with other institutions that provide PLA opportunities to learn about their processes and best practices.
    Develop critical criteria and measurable outcomes whereby performance of the PLA program can be assessed.

    In collaboration with community and workforce partners engage by building capacity, and establishing partnerships and PLA
 agreements that will promote and support the diverse educational needs of industry professionals and their employers.
